hi ethan, unfortunately i have no plans to visit georgia in the immediate future.

Tyrone Slothrop (Tyrone Slothrop), Monday, 4 December 2006 21:45 (seventeen years ago) link

This trash talking is all well and good but I somehow doubt I'll be breaking up another of the Lex's bar fights anytime soon.

Matt DC (Matt DC), Monday, 4 December 2006 21:52 (seventeen years ago) link

i may not make this for fear of lex cutting me up with smashed bottle of blossom hill

sede vacante (blueski), Monday, 4 December 2006 23:48 (seventeen years ago) link

Colonel Poo, did you get rid of your two extra tickets? To ILXors? Do you want to disclose some real details so people don't have to wander round pubs asking people if they are called Colonel Poo? (email is fine)

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Monday, 4 December 2006 23:53 (seventeen years ago) link

REALLY EXCITED!!!

oy! why are you not also being excited on this thread here? too?

grimly fiendish (simon), Monday, 4 December 2006 23:53 (seventeen years ago) link

fuck? damn those question marks?

BASTARDRY, i wish i was going to ATP. fuck.

grimly fiendish (simon), Monday, 4 December 2006 23:54 (seventeen years ago) link

(I'm not after your tickets, btw, it's just that I know there were a couple of ILXors after them so that may add to the mentalism quotient if you have other ILX hangers-on in tow)

xpost - YOU HAD YOUR CHANCE!

ailsa_xx (ailsa_xx), Monday, 4 December 2006 23:55 (seventeen years ago) link

i wish i could go to glasgow, alas not on this trip.

Tyrone Slothrop (Tyrone Slothrop), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 04:17 (seventeen years ago) link

Ailsa - I did get rid of my tickets, and all 3 of them went to ILX0rs! One of them is Andrew Farrell, the other 2 are on ILM but I don't think they post that often so I don't know if you'll recognise their names - davidcorp & myopic_void.

It was quite amusing/embarrassing going to exchange tickets/money and them asking "are you Colonel Poo?". I didn't think of that when I chose my silly login name!

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 09:18 (seventeen years ago) link

Probably the first and only time I'll have the chance to approach a stranger with the line 'Are you Colonel Poo?'

I would attend the FAP, but got myself Wolf Eyes/dilloway/Damion Romero/Sudden Infant tickets, thinking I'd blown the chance of scoring tickets. Also Dead C tickets. No bad thing...

davidcarp (davidcarp), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 09:32 (seventeen years ago) link

Argh, argh, argh, I've got TEH PH34R and kinda don't want to go. But then my internal teenage tells me this is mentalism.

masonic boom (kate), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 10:47 (seventeen years ago) link

(To ATP, not to Stence's FAP, that is. Don't worry, Lex, he's just a big sugarpussy under all that beard.)

masonic boom (kate), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 10:47 (seventeen years ago) link

I am looking forward to a tissp/stence beard-off

tissp! (tissp!), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 10:55 (seventeen years ago) link

I would explode.

masonic boom (kate), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 11:03 (seventeen years ago) link

(this is assuming the beard doesn't need to be tamed in line with the hair cut)

tissp! (tissp!), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 11:05 (seventeen years ago) link

um, when is the FAP?

Euai Kapaui (tracerhand), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 12:03 (seventeen years ago) link

I think I'll have quite my fill of Iguanas this weekend, thanks.

masonic boom (kate), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 12:35 (seventeen years ago) link

i wanna come to this. but @sim is flying in from pakistan today (hurrah!) and i dunno what he's gonna want to do. typically he has given me 0 details about anything - "oh, i'm landing some time on tuesday. i'll call you when i get there" - but i'll see if he fancies coming out.

emsk ( emsk ), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 12:48 (seventeen years ago) link

i like the turn this thread has taken.

I would attend the FAP, but got myself Wolf Eyes/dilloway/Damion Romero/Sudden Infant tickets, thinking I'd blown the chance of scoring tickets. Also Dead C tickets. No bad thing...

wait, waht?!?!? when is sudden infant playing?!?!?!?

Tyrone Slothrop (Tyrone Slothrop), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 15:43 (seventeen years ago) link

It's at Barden's in Stoke Newington. It's a playhouse-like venue under a furniture warehouse. Still tickets, I think.

His live shows are great. I must have seen him supporting more bands over the last year than anyone else. Always a spectacle.

davidcarp (davidcarp), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 15:49 (seventeen years ago) link

is it thursday night? dang, i can't really skip out on my own fap, but i had known i probably would've opted for wednesday fap (skipping six organs of admittance) and thursday sudden infant. oh wells.

Tyrone Slothrop (Tyrone Slothrop), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 15:51 (seventeen years ago) link

I might skip it anyway. My ears'll be taking a battering as it is. Plus, my girlfriend promised a moussaka.

davidcarp (davidcarp), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 15:58 (seventeen years ago) link

It's got to be homemade moussaka every time.

I suppose I should post a cordial hello to this thread. I am the mysterious fourth element in the Poo chalet. I am also quite excited about this whole business. What with having not had a real holiday this year, having never been to ATP before, and seeing most of my favourite bands in one weekend, my expectations are through the roof!

There are some very minor time changes on the ATP main site, but they are quite helpful to me. Major Stars moving to Sunday means I will not have to leave the main stage at all on Friday! The Friday line-up is insane. And I'll have been awake since 6am. Being at work seems like such an irrelevance this week.

myopic_void (myopic_void), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 16:18 (seventeen years ago) link

We can only hope for a last-minute announcement that Captain Beyond have been added to Friday's line up.

"poo chalet"

davidcarp (davidcarp), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 16:34 (seventeen years ago) link

man i'm getting stoked. got the web site for the b&b i'm staying at, it looks foine.

Tyrone Slothrop (Tyrone Slothrop), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 16:39 (seventeen years ago) link

a last-minute announcement that Captain Beyond have been added to Friday's line up

That would possibly lead to some spontaneous combustion on my part.

"poo chalet"

See ya there!

myopic_void (myopic_void), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 16:46 (seventeen years ago) link

Yay!

Colonel Poo (Colonel Poo), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 16:48 (seventeen years ago) link

I fear this festival may be wasted on me. I've not even heard of half the bands...

Ah well, at least I won't feel any pressure to run around and see everybody.

masonic boom (kate), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 16:48 (seventeen years ago) link

I was in the same situation at truck and discovered some delights.

Ed (dali), Tuesday, 5 December 2006 16:54 (seventeen years ago) link

Hahaha Poo Chalet, we're in the Cowpat Chalet - there are jokes aplenty about this, I feel.

24. MONORALE

davidcarp (davidcarp), Wednesday, 6 December 2006 16:52 (seventeen years ago) link

http://www.butlinsmemories.com/7ea3bf40.jpg

The other Butlin's monorail opened at the Minehead camp on 13th May 1967. Running on a shorter half-mile run, the track formed a figure-of-eight loop taking in the Princess and Regency buildings. Construction took 4 months and the track varied from 16ft to 30ft above ground level. The tracks crossed each other on an impressive structure located above the outdoor swimming pool. A pair of 40-seat trains provided the service and only one station was built, this being situated to the rear of the Princess building. The Minehead monorail closed following an accident during the summer of 1996. One train ran into the back of another and 7 people received minor treatment. Butlins were fined a total of £22,500. The cost to upgrade the system was thought too high, so the monorail was closed for good. The structure remained in place for another two years before being torn down during the winter of 1998. The area where the trains crossed is now home to the Skyline Pavillion.

myopic_void (myopic_void), Wednesday, 6 December 2006 16:56 (seventeen years ago) link

I actually went to that Minehead Butlins in 1990! It was horrible.
