jergins, Thursday, 26 June 2008 23:14 (seventeen years ago)

christmas in (almost)july?

tehresa, Friday, 27 June 2008 02:23 (seventeen years ago)

who plays christmas movies in june? china eastern airlines, you will be happy to know. devito/broderick all time

jergins, Thursday, 3 July 2008 01:48 (seventeen years ago)

lol us airways plays 10 year old movies. i think i deserve more than that for a $1000 plane ticket.

tehresa, Thursday, 10 July 2008 01:02 (seventeen years ago)

for my $1000 plane ticket, these were my food choices:
meal 1: seafood noodle or pork rice?
meal 2: seafood noodle or pork rice?
flight back
meal 1: seafood noodle or pork rice?
meal 2: seafood noodle or egg with hot dog and shrimp?

jergins, Thursday, 10 July 2008 01:07 (seventeen years ago)

what did you choose, and were you glum when you made your selection.

estela, Thursday, 10 July 2008 02:16 (seventeen years ago)

you people don't know bad airplane meals. never order the vegetarian option.

lxy, Thursday, 10 July 2008 02:24 (seventeen years ago)

(they got ice cream sandwich for snack. i got an apple with my name on it.)

lxy, Thursday, 10 July 2008 02:24 (seventeen years ago)

haha my option was 'buy a crappy sandwich for $7 or crappy snack box for $7' for all 4 flights so i just did not eat but that's ok. not exactly burning massive calories on a plane.

tehresa, Thursday, 10 July 2008 04:40 (seventeen years ago)

did it really have your name? or just seat no? did you take a picture?

tehresa, Thursday, 10 July 2008 04:41 (seventeen years ago)

yes, my name. no, i didn't take a picture but i toted it all the way to the hotel where it sat for three days till jergins finally threw it away.

lxy, Thursday, 10 July 2008 06:01 (seventeen years ago)

pork rice
pork rice
pork rice
egg with hot dog and shrimp

jergins, Thursday, 10 July 2008 06:21 (seventeen years ago)

glum's a word for it, yeah

jergins, Thursday, 10 July 2008 06:21 (seventeen years ago)

at least the shrimp didn't look back at me

jergins, Thursday, 10 July 2008 06:22 (seventeen years ago)

you chose exactly what i would have joylessly chosen every time, i couldn't face airplane seafood noodle.

an uneaten apple can be one of the most unappealing things on earth.

estela, Thursday, 10 July 2008 06:29 (seventeen years ago)

'christmas with the vandals' just came up on the tracker. crosspost these song titles to the uhh thread:

h.i.m. (jergins), Wednesday, 8 October 2008 20:12 (seventeen years ago)

on sunday i bought a charlie brown christmas cassette for 10 cents at goodwill in ballard. i bought it along with other 5 other cassette selections for 65 cents total so that i could listen to them with my awesome partner at work the next day. but then i got to work and it was the back up rig that day which doesn't have a tape deck. but i donated them to my partner (she said "charlie brown christmas? it's not even halloween yet." but i still like her) and told her that when christmastime came around in a couple months, she'll be stoked to have that tape in her possession.

Lingbert, Thursday, 9 October 2008 00:21 (seventeen years ago)

you sound like coworkers in an anne tyler novel.

estela, Thursday, 9 October 2008 05:04 (seventeen years ago)

is she skinny and scrappy with legs as thin as chopsticks and one day you will realize you loved her all along.

estela, Thursday, 9 October 2008 05:07 (seventeen years ago)

i have no idea who anne tyler is.

Lingbert, Thursday, 9 October 2008 06:42 (seventeen years ago)

The Accidental Tourist sounds vaguely familiar. otherwise, totally unfamliar

Lingbert, Thursday, 9 October 2008 06:49 (seventeen years ago)

Lingbert, Wednesday, 12 November 2008 22:59 (seventeen years ago)

i got a christmas card in the mail yesterday

lxy, Saturday, 15 November 2008 21:21 (seventeen years ago)

it says "merry wishes"

lxy, Saturday, 15 November 2008 21:21 (seventeen years ago)

it's from someone i like but still

lxy, Saturday, 15 November 2008 21:22 (seventeen years ago)

we put our tree up yesterday and today we're going to get lights for it and decorate it.
it's too early but we're going have a thanksgiving at our house and putting up the tree always takes so long when you're trying to do everything else and we want things to be easy so we decided to get a head start, which is not my usual way.
my sister said, 'i hope you are not christmas tree over-achievers,' and i said she would soon see for herself.
our little dog loves it when the tree goes up, he lays underneath it like a slightly grimy gift.

estela, Saturday, 15 November 2008 22:03 (seventeen years ago)

Steve Martin, Paul Simon, and Billy Joel - Silver Bells
http://www.sendspace.com/file/t6hwiq

the story behind this song, according to Billy Joel:

http://www.americanwaymag.com/aw/travel/celebrated.asp?archive_date=11/15/2001
“One night around Christmas 20 years ago, I was doing a recording session at A&R Studios in Hell’s Kitchen. We had just finished the session, and my producer and I decided to get some food. It was fairly late at night, and we ran into Paul Simon and Steve Martin at the restaurant. We had a little bit of wine, and then we had a little more wine. Nobody was feeling any pain. We got a brainstorm that we would go back to the studio and record a Christmas record. It must’ve been about midnight at this point. So we go back to the studio, and Paul Simon and I are singing in the background that Christmas carol ‘Silver Bells.’ We’re harmonizing, and Steve Martin starts into this soliloquy ‘What Christmas Means to Me,’ with these hysterical descriptions of the secretary sitting on the copying machine, all these very risqué scenarios. And Paul and I are just trying to keep it together. We did this maybe in one take and we had a Christmas single. Now, it was never given to a record company, but there’s a copy of it floating around somewhere. Stuff like that happens in New York. It’s a small town.”

Lingbert, Saturday, 15 November 2008 22:04 (seventeen years ago)

Graaf lasted a song and a haalf

jergins, Saturday, 15 November 2008 22:23 (seventeen years ago)

it is ok for us to have our differences, and this thread shows what some of them are

lxy, Saturday, 15 November 2008 23:06 (seventeen years ago)

nonetheless i am kind of pissed that i have 'silver bells' stuck in my head now

lxy, Saturday, 15 November 2008 23:07 (seventeen years ago)

i remember sitting on santa's lap age 7, asking for a message board. he thought i meant dry erase board lol but i explained. he told me ok, but "no billy joel shares." we both laughed because who would share billy joel? santa must be ashamed of me right now.

jergins, Sunday, 16 November 2008 00:24 (seventeen years ago)

so did you guys listen to the track? if you didn't already know that billy joel was on it, you would never know otherwise. in fact, i played this last night and was asked "so where was billy joel on that?"

Lingbert, Sunday, 16 November 2008 00:35 (seventeen years ago)

it sounds like we had the exact same evening.

estela, Sunday, 16 November 2008 00:41 (seventeen years ago)

i didn't listen to it, i just read the title

if you have to ask where the billy joel is then he's probably creeping up, getting ready to put it in your butt or ear

jergins, Sunday, 16 November 2008 00:51 (seventeen years ago)

november 15, a day that will live in infamy, because billy joel came to visit

lxy, Sunday, 16 November 2008 00:59 (seventeen years ago)

lxy, Thursday, 11 December 2008 18:14 (seventeen years ago)

hi i don't mean to change the subject but this is very important:

A Kansas-based church that has blamed deaths in Iraq on U.S. tolerance of homosexuality has asked Gov. Christine Gregoire's office to approve a "Santa Claus will take you to hell" message to display among other religious statements in the Capitol's third-floor hallway.

The Westboro Baptist Church's message would be near a Nativity set, three signs mocking atheism, and an atheists' sign that celebrates the winter solstice, while also taking a shot at religion as "myth and superstition" that enslaves minds, all in the state Capitol's third-floor hallway.

The first part of Westboro's proposed message, according to Spokesman-Review reporter Rich Roesler:

"You'd better watch out, get ready to cry, You'd better go hide, I'm telling you why 'cuz Santa Claus will take you to hell. He is your favorite idol, you worship at his feet, but when you stand before your God He won't help you take the heat. So get this fact straight: you're feeling God's hate, Santa's to blame for the economy's fate, Santa Claus will take you to hell."

jergins, Thursday, 11 December 2008 18:25 (seventeen years ago)

but everyone loves you lxy! hooray!!

that capoeira girl in your office was cute. do you think she'd let me dj her heart?

Lingbert, Thursday, 11 December 2008 19:40 (seventeen years ago)

i think the real lols in that bit are:

The Westboro Baptist Church's message would be near a Nativity set, three signs mocking atheism, and an atheists' sign that celebrates the winter solstice, while also taking a shot at religion as "myth and superstition" that enslaves minds, all in the state Capitol's third-floor hallway.

tehresa, Monday, 15 December 2008 03:54 (seventeen years ago)

lol why are women's costumes always so sexy or "sexy"?

Lingbert, Monday, 15 December 2008 04:08 (seventeen years ago)

because they're revealing and tight?

lxy, Monday, 15 December 2008 04:16 (seventeen years ago)

i think it is because women are just inherently sexy and also a pillow belly would be less "jolly" and more "uh" on a lady.

tehresa, Monday, 15 December 2008 04:20 (seventeen years ago)

well what if i want to wear a sexy santa claus suit that is snug in the chopchops highlights the curvature of my buttocks? i'm just saying that if men want to express their dingdongs to the world via tight-fitting, revealing costumes, their options are limited. the world isn't fair is all i'm saying.

"bing crosby's voice just SOUNDS like christmas!"
