well it seems awfully generous but i have been accused of being self-deprecating so how can i measure these things.

based on posts i have read from you, and about you, i imagine you to be pale and tall and funny and clever and implacable.

ruby was a lot like i expected her to be except maybe a little bit quieter, she doesn't speak in caps and !!!!!, she is very pretty and has a lovely speaking voice and laugh and is funny and smart, i very liked her.

sometimes i have dreams about ilx people and if i don't know what they look like i don't see their faces: sometimes they are blurred out, or the person has their back to me, or is talking to me from another room, my dream never supplies a face for them.

if i had to guess, i would say you are somewhere in the 5'5 range (that's 5 feet, 5 inches, though i don't know how many meters that is) in height; have brown hair; don't wear glasses regularly; are shy, but overcome this very easily; are witty. probably even more than that too!

i am 5'5'' and i have dark brown hair and i don't wear glasses and i am shy but only in some respects, so that is some pretty good guessing.

my stopping drinking was a mixture of a & b, at first i liked this stuff too much and how it made me feel but by the end i didn’t like how it made me feel which was sick and remorseful and horribly anxious nearly all the time, and not ever drunk no matter how much i drank. that was all a long time ago though and i have adjusted to never drinking ever, and i think everyone should carry on without me, i'm not one for spoiling the party.

hey estela do you sometimes get annoyed when you make funny posts and people fall over themselves saying things like "this thread is now perfect because of estela" and other super-hyperbolic things? im sure its really complimentary and a lot of the time theyre saying things that im thinking but frankly i think the strength of your wit is its dry subtlety and a lot of unsubtle internet posters drawing attention to your jokes sometimes ruins them for me. let me know your thoughts thanks max.

jergins, i never answered your music question, is it from before the break? i will get on to it, though it is a bit of a difficult question for me, i think i have never given a satisfactory answer to this in my life.

i like a lot of different things, but i lean most towards the melancholic and the spare. i don't like clutter much, not in music, buildings, clothes, food, writing. i'm not stubbornly minimalist, everything doesn't have to be a white room and a black piano and a grey sky, but i like things that seem simple and true. but then sometimes simple and truthful can be found in things that sound bold and a bit messy. sorry this is such a dumb and embarrassing answer but i never know how to answer this question, i have trouble with it even when it is only me asking myself and there is nothing to defend or explain.

the other day i took my dog for a walk and a small boy of about six wearing a white shirt with rolled up sleeves and a smart vest appeared from behind a hedge and patted him, and then told me he lives in papua new guinea and that are hardly any dogs there and the ones you see usually only have two legs. i said, only two, and he said yes, and also the bees over there are so big they eat birds. he made a large circle with his hands to show me the average diameter of the bees. i put a frightened look on my face and he gave a nonchalant shrug, then his eyes landed on some jacaranda petals on the ground and he said its all right because if you ever see a bee coming all you have to do is stick a flower petal onto your leg and it makes them stay away. i thanked him for the tip. he said actually there are quite a few dogs over there but you mainly see them in the company of women who are about to take them out of the country. then he said he hoped his flight home wasn't going to be bumpy. i said i was sure it wouldn't be and he looked very relieved and then we parted ways.

when i was in elementary school (maybe 2nd grade?), i continuously bounced on my pogo ball from my house to my elementary school and back one weekend. i'm not sure how far it was. and i actually just went on google maps to find out how far. it seemed like much longer when i was a kid, and it's only actually about a mile round trip. but still. also, wtf the city has google street view! but seattle still doesn't. it was a trip seeing my old house though! this has also provided a brief but solid way for me to procrastinate.

when i was in kindergarten i pretended to learn french. my parents still don't know that i was just copying my sister.

when i was in 1st grade i started talking like a "hick" boy i liked, saying things like "i reckon" and "i ain't" and "VE-hicle." my parents disapproved.

a mean boy made fun of the girls who tried out for the 2nd grade solo, so the teacher made him sing I Love You Truly in front of the whole class. still lolling.

my 3rd grade teacher shamed me for spelling alaska wrong on a test, because my family was moving there at the end of the school year. "you of all people!"

in 4th grade i did a report on new zealand featuring a papier mache kiwi.

in 5th grade music class we learned to play the tonette, sort of a clarinet-organ amalgam. there was also a girl in my class named Tonette.

my 6th grade reading group recorded a play with a character named Phoebe. they got mad at me when we learned it wasn't pronounced "fobe." i was good a phonics.

7th grade was a nightmare. boys on the bus spit on the windows and talked about wet dreams. i tried to pretend like i didn't exist.

i was in love with my 8th grade history teacher. he drove a baby blue opel.

tried to convince my mom i could ride my bike 5 miles to the busstop so i wouldn't have to change schools. but no i had to go to the yucky school for 9th grade.

10: dated mike for 2 weeks. saw him once during that time, at a church xmas party. he gave me a janky bottle of oldlady perfume. broke up with him over the phone.

got a mad crush on a guy who was into Devo; traded my AC/DC 8 track for Elvis Costello. tried to see The Knack but it was sold out. saw The Cars instead.

12th grade is when i learned to lie, to my teachers, to my parents, to my sister. it served me well in college.

freshman: a-plus party girl, c-minus student. learned to drink and screw but not much else. fell for a gay boy, the first of many. discovered i love to dance.

estela told me she got an iphone and has had it for weeks. f. keeps bugging her about getting it set up but she won't because she doesn't want to change out her simcard for fear of losing "lxy's life history in txt."

i told her i had recorded them on our board and could send to her in email, so she's going to switch out phones before she goes to sydney.

Major League Baseball today announced its master 2014 regular season schedule, which will begin with the historic 2014 Opening Series between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Los Angeles Dodgers in Sydney, Australia on Saturday, March 22nd and Sunday, March 23rd.

i'm guessing scully won't make the trip, but i hope f. does

: ) we discussed this a few months ago when we heard about it and the upshot was that because it's in sydney it will probably cost about half an airfare to dodger stadium to get to so we won't be going.

f. was very surprised and happy. it was an amazing series. i really felt for the blue jays and their fans. it was so close and could have gone either way in many split seconds. and for several reasons a canada win would have been satisfying.
most people we know on this side of the world who follow baseball are japanese dodgers fans and they are all very happy and their enjoyment is enjoyable.
