again!

grbchv! (gbx), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:20 (seventeen years ago) link

the pulled pork was pretty crummy actually; it was like a 3 tops. too soggy and mushy and lacked the right consistency. this was at a bistro type restauraunt in east greenwich, rhode island.

ian (orion), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:22 (seventeen years ago) link

but, in general, compared to other foods, how would you rate pulled pork?

sexyDancer, Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:31 (seventeen years ago) link

it's up there

grbchv! (gbx), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:31 (seventeen years ago) link

I mean, for starters, it's PORK.

Laurel (Laurel), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:32 (seventeen years ago) link

psyche

strongo, Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:33 (seventeen years ago) link

let's say, rate Pulled Pork vs.
BBQ Beef, Philly Cheesesteak, Jerk Chicken, Sloppy Joe

sexyDancer, Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:34 (seventeen years ago) link

JERK CHICKEN IS TOPS

grbchv! (gbx), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:35 (seventeen years ago) link

compared to the hamburger, i would give the hamburger the edge because it's a more versatile and customizable foodstuff. I think they're both solidly in the 8-9 range.

xpost

okay when well when you put it that way...

hamburger variant > pulled pork > cheesesteak > jerk chicken > bbq beef >>>>> sloppy joe

ian (orion), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:35 (seventeen years ago) link

dude fuck bbq beef.

Jessie the Monster (scarymonster), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:36 (seventeen years ago) link

cheesesteak = involves onions, which I then have to pick out
jerk = too spicy for lil ol me
sloppy joe = reminds me of yard-raking day when mom would be feeding a crowd

BBQ beef is the only possible competition I can see....

Laurel (Laurel), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:36 (seventeen years ago) link

you are forgetting sausages.

ian -- you really should plan your entire life around a trip to Hot Doug's in Chicago.

xp lol @ wussy midwesterner

grbchv! (gbx), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:36 (seventeen years ago) link

i think there are always gray areas, though. i think the average pulled pork sandwich is probably better than the average cheesesteak when you take into account all the cheesesteak sold at subway, quiznos etc every day. HOWEVER, the best cheesesteak at the right moment could be better than anything else. xpost

hamburger variant > pulled pork > cheesesteak > jerk chicken > bbq beef >>>>> sloppy joe

what is sloppy joe if not a hamburger variant???

THIS IS A COMPLEX EQUATION

dmr, Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:40 (seventeen years ago) link

cheesesteak = involves onions, which I then have to pick out

this is just not true

strongo, Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:50 (seventeen years ago) link

loose meat sandwiches are just griddled ground beef, perhaps with some spices. they're native to idaho or iowa or somesuch. i don't know much about them, but i like the name.

Lauren (lauren), Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:52 (seventeen years ago) link

in baltimore there is a variation called the "pit beef sandwich"

strongo, Tuesday, 28 November 2006 21:54 (seventeen years ago) link

"Loose meat" sounds like someone (Ian) walking around with random bits of meat in their pockets, left over from meat-based barter transactions from over the past couple days.
