i once saw a showdown in a vegetarian cafe between a skinhead and a hardcore separatist lesbian (who were sporting almost identical outfits and hairdos) where he growled that someone was a cunt and she roared at him, 'denigrate your own genitals', which pleased the whole room immensely. my own later dealings with them were a) him sexually harrassing me at a deserted bus station late on a sunday afternoon in winter when the light was low, which was unpleasant and unnerving but i got away okay, and b) me and my friends getting very drunk with her one night and having a very great time, she was funny and kind and she didn't at all mind how frivolous we were.

i saw her years later and we had both stopped drinking, for the same reasons. but we laughed about the reasons.

haha, that's a great story estela! in 11th grade math i had a silent battle with a girl next to me because she was obnoxious and perfect and would correct the teacher if he ever made a mistake. every time we got a test back i would look at her paper to see if my grade was higher. it was fun when she sulked if she got a 97 or something. i think that was when i really started liking math. then i was mad when my brother went to prom with her.

when i was in middle school this girl who used to be one of my 'best friends' suddenly turned on me and started this rumor that i was cheating and spread it all over the 7th grade and i had no friends for the 2nd half of that year, but really i wasn't cheating and i was just smarter than they were :(

i'm reading final proofs of my friend's novel for him and i keep finding tiny wrong things and it needs to be done by the end of today because it's getting printed next week and launched the week after and i'm dying of tired eyes.

send all sandboxers 1 chapter and it will be done in no time at all!

gahhhhhhhhhhh so we both have the biggest fucking pet peeve about typos etc. in books, and when jordan was recently published in a magazine, they COMPLETELY MASSACRED his poem - lines missing, lines all wrong, typos - and it was really super distressing. and therefore we were ULTRA pedantic about proof reading our first project. we both must have read the poems 100x, easily. now, months later, i'm reading through the book again and i find TWO M-Fing typos!!! i am irked beyond belief.

on a happier note: a "love poem" jordan wrote for me is being published (not by us) in a miniature handmade hardcover book
