"I do love myself because I am loved. Not from humans."

The only interview with her I've ever seen proves her singing is not a style

This is not public. If you think I'm here, that's the first problem.

Maybe not as 1000% incredible as the studio version but amazing just to see her play any other version of one of her most nebulous songs, i.e. the aim is joy is the image

posted ten days ago, "Anew day" single version (says it's a "remix" but sounds to me like a completely different take)

Oh my goodness. Thanks for posting all these!

I was checked to see if excerpts of the Robert Wilson / Tom Waits production of 'Black Rider' had shown up, but found all these instead

In that interview she mentions doing an improv trio with Michael Snow! That is amazing!

There's more online worth hunting down but break's over

oh man, that interview

@ ~ 30:20

Interviewer: "Can you describe what the audience will hear tonight?"
M2OH: (instantaneous 1.5 second burst of insane microtonal twittering)

and less than 60 seconds later she and the host launch into "Baby It's Cold Outside"

(I'm at work and I've just been dipping in and out of the Q TV interview; it's completely made my day).

Michael Jones, Thursday, 29 December 2011 12:54 (twelve years ago) link

thank you for this. I'm at work, so most of it will have to wait - but I have seen that Q TV interview before, & it is so great.

woof, Thursday, 29 December 2011 13:17 (twelve years ago) link

She's always been somewhat active in Toronto, appearing mostly at tribute concerts or as an onstage collaborator. That Q interview is exactly what she's like in person.

Thank you, thread, for inspiring me to binge on Miss America all day. I know it goes without saying, but: man, what a fucking record.
