I've been playing the exp to Call of Duty, as well as the 2004 RTS version of Axis & Allies, which is cool, but crashes even more than the rest of the games on my systems.

If this fails then I guess it's' back to Psychonauts, which I still haven't finished.
Lego Star Wars looks fantastic - I love the way it looks like they realised that building a Lego Rancor would have been near impossible, so made it a pre-built character like the dragons in Medieval Lego. I'd quite like to give it a go, but no doubt my PC's not good enough.

I think I'm done with the GTA series for awhile.
I was playing plain ol' Vice City, trying to get 100%. That was ruined when one of the rampages I failed didn't regenerate. I was aiming for 99% just for kicks when last night, while I was doing some boat thingy, I just lost interest. Just like that.
When I think of a new GTA, but still with fire, paramedic, and vigilanted missions, my brain just dulls up. They better think of something different - and NOT DATING OR EATING - fast.

I kinda know what you mean, but I still love the vigilante missions because they're always different. I've never liked the Paramedic missions and the fire ones are just ho hum. They tried some variety in VCS at least, have you driven the ambulance and fire helicopters? And there's beach patrol, and you don't have to start at level 1 each time either. So yes I do hope the next big GTA game tries something new here.
It's the pizza delivery missions I find pointless, LCS had at least 3 of these alone. bah.
For me GTA is all about racing other cars, those crafty fish tailing manoeuvres, the old luring the other car into a wall trick, and all the fun to be had when the cops are after you. The on foot missions are too easy.
I'm loving VCS at the moment, the 99 red balloons thing is genius. Have you seen the 'little willy' copter, oh my!

i have been playing for a month and am still on the first island. great game tho, although the cut scenes are pretty rubbish, esp. for GTA. feels like some rub. exploitation movie.
have found exactly one balloon so far, near the stadium i think, but cannot reach it. also found the 'defending your businesses' bits tres glitchy, so now just let 'em damage the premises and then go by to fix it up. every time i get in/out of a car, two bikers come and try and kill me - happens like 3 times every ten minutes. i must have pissed them off.
the businesses thing is great, the radio awesome.

Wot I AM playing on the DS instead is COOKING MAMA! It's so great! I have stalled in Partners in Time. I am at the bit where you have just finished fighting Mrs Thwomp, a battle which took me ONE HOUR AND TEN MINUTES of frustration, boredom and ANGER - I was nearly in TEARS! And it never EVER tells you the hit points of your opponent so you have no CLUE how close/far you might be!
And you know what happened after that? A wander into a volcano which took all of about 20 minutes... and now ANOTHER boss fight, with Adult Bowser and Baby Bowser! Just letting ONE of Bowsers attacks hit you reduces you to half life points and it just seems NOT WORTH IT! Let Peach suffer! So no wonder I like a simple cook-em-up game instead!
Have finished Gyakuten Saiban 2 :( *thumps chest*. Oh Phoenix! Oh Maya! Oh Edgeworth! Oh Pearls! Oh Mia! I love Phoenix Wright SO MUCH why oh why does it have to end??
I don't suppose any of you chaps would have a Japanese GBA rom of Gy4ku+3n 541b4n 3 by any chance? I simply CANNOT find one, but you need one to run the ongoing fan translation project. Proof:
I cannot stop my brain/mind from designing a NEWER BETTER FASTER Genesis/Mega Drive and CD unit.
I didn't know jack shit about digital ANYTHING, really until about a month and a half ago. Now:How can I sleep without knowing what version of the 68k family I should be using in Enhanced mode?(68040 looks good...just looked now)How much memory can each chip address in each mode? What should the chips do in each mode? What changes should be made on the CD end? What VDP should be used? An existing design? Which one?If a new design, what features should be added? What about the sound unit? A new one is needed, but what needs to be done? Can an existing design be used? What patents are still held on X chip?
That's just the beginning. The easy part's the hard part(MIND??!!?!?):I need to re-design these chips myself/with help.FPGA. What chip/memory will be doing the re-programming of the gate array(s) to change modes?
Teaching english to people of two different ages, cultures, and native tongues, learning Chinese, and now designing computer actitechture.
This is one step beyond masocism. This is the brink of martyrdom...

My high score is about 250,000 (need to check this). I hate the red car things with the shields that follow you around. I love this game.

My dad plays WoW. He & some members of his guild were beginning to suspect that one of their members was but a kid. Their suspicions were confirmed when, as a raid went sour, on the chat channel, full of "fuck!"s and "god damnit!"s, that particular guild-member swore "TARTAR SAUCE!"*.
*note: "tartar sauce" is used as a swear word on Spongebob Squarepants (other Spongebob swears include: "fish paste!", "barnacles!", "dirty barnacles!")

your opponent is an insufferable, spoiled 13-year-old. everything else follows from this:
1. your opponent will disconnect to avoid "actually" losing.1a. the chances of this are roughly tripled if there is any kind of win/loss record-keeping or ranking system.2. your opponent will accuse you of using "cheap" tactics. for a short while you will attempt to reason with them and fail 100% of the time.
etc

the reason being, there was one town in it that was supposed to be more vanilla and peaceful, so the random encounters were more civilian. but there was always a chance that any encounter would turn violent right away, no matter how advanced you were. so you would have to, at some point, fight off a family or group of unarmed bums that jumped you.

Desert temple. They've all got one though right? It has one of the most fun items Ive yet seen in a Zelda game though (probably forgetting some), hoping it comes in for use again at some point and I'll be shocked if Nintendo haven't crafted a mini game or two with it in mind...
HERE ENDETH THE SPOILER
I spent fuckin hours today just pootling about Hyrule though, trying out all the fishing (possibly the only thing to make me sad I don't have the Wii version) and everything. The point at which you can really explore - usually when you've collected the initial three items say - and the game really opens out is always my favourite. I think I'm starting to see a proper town starting to develop - along the lines of Wind Waker more than Clock Town from Majoras Mask most likely, but I'm hoping for anything in that regard, cos thats often one the greatest things about Zelda. I love the working, changing towns... Like having a mini animal crossing in the middle of a huge adventure game or something.
But yeah, it's fucking huge. Like they've just crammed in every last bit of every Zelda game in to one huge best of. And if, like the rumours say, this is the last Zelda in this traditional style then it makes sense to go out epic style.

This game has really made me laugh on numerous occasions, and I'm really glad that's all still there (and especially that it's text based - contrary to what many reviews have said - cos the humour relies on being read for one [Malo's little mumblings when you're showing the kids how to use yr sword say], and having everything spoken breaks the game and how it all works...), supposed "darker serious tone" or not (and that item just sort of had me chuckling to myself with joy). S'funny though, I've seen a few people mention online that... nobody is talking about Zelda online! I mean, I'm sure they are in some places but it's almost as a)too busy playing and b)nobosy really wants to give anything away.

The PS2 is ancient, one of the old fat ones. I've had it for years and it was 2nd hand when I got it :) I tried a number of disks and they all loaded apart from the LSW2 game that was spinning in the drive when it was dropped and got scratched.
Mark wrote me a Christmas card with "Happy Christmas Dad. I'm very sorry for breaking your Playstation" and gave me it with tears welling up in his eyes and I felt terrible and wanted to go buy him a new Lego Star Wars game but the wife wouldn't let me. They've got to learn a lesson, apparently. She's right of course but it still sucks and it also means _I_ don't get to play Lego Star Wars until they save up for a replacement.

New SMB is pretty cool. I haven't played much of my DS platformers (New SMB, Sonic Rush, Yoshi's Island) yet. I'm mostly still trying to finish FFIII but I'm also screwing around with Nintendogs, Phoenix Wright and Rocket Slime. I finished Trace Memory, a DS graphic adventure that only takes about 5 1/2 hours. There's another game from the same developer coming out next month called Hotel Dusk.
BTW, I have FFIV and FFV for GBA now and as far as I can tell they're just like the PS1 ports, i.e. FFIV has the restored scenes and more accurate translation. I'll have to see if "you spoony bard!" is still in there.

Ever wonder how Santa Claus manages to work his way down chimneys way too small for him? Or how he seems to stop time in order to visit all of the world's good boys and girls every Christmas morning? LucasArts and TT Games know the answer: Santa Claus is a Jedi Knight whose amazing Force powers allow him to pull off such spectacular feats. A long time ago, he came to us from a galaxy far, far away to exile himself from the Jedi purge led by Darth Vader. (No... that's not official canon.)
But what would have happened if jolly ol' Saint Nick had stuck around to assist the Rebellion? Find out by creating him in LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy. Here's how:
Step 1: At the Mos Eisley Cantina, enter the following two codes:
CL4U5H (for Santa hat and red clothes)
TYH319 (for white beard Extra)
Step 2: Go to the Character Customizer and create the proper costume. Use a human head, the appropriate red clothing...and don't forget the red cap! Santa can wield the weapon of your choice -- we recommend the green or red lightsaber to seasonally complement his shiny red duds. (Remember, the color of his lightsaber decides whether his Force powers are naughty or nice.)
Step 3: In the Extras menu, activate Disguise 3. Now have her open the box.
Step 4: Enter the character-based level of your choice in Free Play.
Step 5: Spread holiday cheer to a galaxy in pieces.

The 360 has been out for over a year and has one RPG, four thousand racing simulations and online UNO.
the PS3 has a WW2 shooter, plus they put aliens in it, to make it different. They also have, uh, a racing simulator, which looks better on the 360. And they have a giant robot combat simulator with the Gundam name attached that everybody in Japan HATED. I don't even know how you fuck that up.
the Wii already has golf, bowling, swordfights, werewolves, tennis, and fucking Madden, plus the VC:http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Virtual_Console_titles_%28Europe%29http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Virtual_Console_titles_%28North_America%29

I have to agree that I'm feeling a little nervous about the Wii lineup at the moment, though there are plenty of things on the unspecified horizon, such as fully-featured golf games, and tennis of course which I hope will expand nicely on Wii Sports.
There's also the Nintendo big names, which have already been mentioned like Mario, Metroid etc. Mostly though, there's just more on the Wii and coming soon to the Wii that I'm even remotely interested in compared to the other two options.
I was stupid enough to fall for the grass-is-greener thing with respect to my DS and bought a PSP only to realise that I don't like Burnout, Ridge Racer, Tekken and all the other guff. I spend my (limited) psp time playing Lemmings, which I probably can get for my PC from an aband0nware site, and Killzone, the only actually 'good' game I've played so far. Deep down, I know my experiences would be exactly the same on the PS3 and Xbox 360.

Docks in Vice City - there's a pay and spray, I _think_ an 8-ball mechanics place where you can get a car turned into a carbomb, some hidden objects, one of the printer missions starts off there, and the boatyard asset. IIRC one of the buildings there actually has an interior that is inaccesible, suggesting there might have been some other mission there that got left out. I read somewhere that it was one of the Pastor Richards missions that got cut b/c the actor died, I think that was just speculation though.

Cheers Pash. I haven't reached Pastor Richards yet. I find the Checkpoint Charlie mission in the boat a pain in the face. Still, must persevere. Saving up for the Printing Works!

If you like, here's Focus on the Family's review of the game:
Eternal Forces is a real-time strategy (RTS) resource management game that focuses on a handful of boroughs in New York City. There you're challenged (through 40 lengthy missions) to evangelize the people of the Big Apple, house them, feed them and find ways to stay alive while the enemy does its best to take over the city and crush you underfoot. You start out with a few people (units) in your control, send them out to gather resources (money and real estate) and train them up to become musicians, builders, nurses, pastors, disciples and soldiers, each with his or her own function for the community and impact on the world...
See, even tho it's an RTS with guns and violence n' shit, it's actually just like Sim City!

Just finished two bizarre missions: ** SPOILERS **Domestapod, control the robot around the house performing chores and trying to find the safe. Fucking long winded and hard, play 'mastermind' trying to solve the four digit safe code.
Protect Phil Collins while he's singing In The Air Tonight. HAHA this is like a full live performance of Phil where he walks around the stage singing until he arrives to his drum kit or that kick ass drum riff. Anyway, knock fuck out of the guys trying to unscrew the roof rig that would fall on Phil's sorry head.

the DS one was pretty bad, in terms of the difficulty curve. is this one like that, just flat-out completely unchallenging until you run up against something that feels almost impossible, then back to nothing?

Trauma Center: So far this is amazing. I can see it getting boring super fast, though.Brain Age: WTF? This is awesome. I definitely DON'T use my brain ever, because after playing this for like 30 minutes I started to get a bit manic. It was like drugs for my BRAIN, MAN.Big Brain Academy: Eh, didn't like it as much as Age.the first castlevania: actually only looked at the intro screen.Cooking Mama: yet to even put it in the machine.New super Mario Bros: You know, I'll say it... not blown away. My friend puts it as his fave SMB game of all time... and Yoshi's Island second. I think they both rank at (or near) the bottom of my list. SMB3 first, SMW1 second, SMBLL third, SMB2, SMB1, Yoshi, this game. But I'm only on world 2, so what do I know.

Elebits, as noted above, is awesome; ransacking a house looking for little parasites and zapping them with your ghostbuster gun is more fun than I could've predicted.
My guy's score is at 2048 on tennis. I assumed it stopped at 2000, but that's not the case; you just keep going over the top of the chart. The game doesn't get harder though; you just keep playing one 1900 player and one 2000 player. Twitch reflexes and intuitive controls have me at a point where I'm consistently beating the computer in straight sets. When do I get to play real people online; that's the million dollar question?
Anybody know anything about realtime one-on-one wifi games for the wii? C'mon, they can do it with the DS; what's the hold up?

things I hate so far, a list: motherfucking lava, portal monsters who won't cooperate and keep wandering around out of B-button death range, portal monsters I have to fight in human form, most of the little kids from my village, Midna giving me useless/redundant advice in dungeons.
― TOMB07 (trm), Tuesday, 20 February 2007 16:16 (seventeen years ago) link
As for Zelda, yeah, I hate the portal Monsters, but I've become a pretty big fan of riding round Hyrule Field as fast as Epona will go doing drive-bys (With my sword) on the baddies that wander about down there.
I still haven't made as big a dent in Zelda as I feel I should have, just haven't had a chance to dedicate a whole day to it like I really should. Maybe this weekend. maybe.

Same here - I'm only just catching my stride thirteen hours into the damn thing! (I do have to applaud the designers for building in a pretty brilliant degree of compartmentalization - as someone who rarely has the patience for gigantic sprawling games, it's a huge boost for the game to be structured by goals which can be accomplished in an hour or so, like "find the tears" or "get into the castle" or whatever. Maybe this has been an element of Zelda forever and it's just new to me since TP is the first Zelda I've ever owned and therefore had the time to obsess over; I 'unno.)

red steel is atrocious. terrible graphics (made worse by the fact that the game relies on long range shooting, often far away enemies can only be detected by gun fire or when they hit you), unresponsive controls, it is neither realistic nor fun to simulate opening a door with a flick of the nunchuck, so much time spent fucking around trying to escape through doors while getting shot the fuck up when a simple button press would suffice, ditto sword fighting, it just doesn't work. the music sounds like fucking propellerheads or some shit, like 10 minute tom rolls and played james bond melodies into atmospheric exhale drones/corny fake "j pop" drum n bass with insulting fake japanese vocals, terrible enemy ai and voice acting ("he's gone..", no i'm fucking not i'm shooting you in the head, dick). it's not so good. i just can't believe they fucked the controls up so bad, like who tests this shit?? how does it get through??
