To me, this sounds more like Stephin Merritt's pastiches of 80s synthpop than like any of the classic PSB songs I know. I think, however, that I like it more than either anything by Merritt or any classic PSB I know.

The original version is rather damp and melancholy when it should sound all tsk-tsk-tsk like "Yesterday When I Was Mad," which is why I vastly prefer the Scissor Sisters remix.
