i have yet to find/afford 'soho suites' but deeply want to: oxley's credit on it starts "Percussion, Wood, Ring Modulator..."

it's a truly brilliant piece of work, but the best stuff is on the 1995 disc. their interplay uses the townshend/moon relationship as a jumping-off point, and takes it to unimaginable extremes.

the earlier disc certainly has its moments, to be sure. but it doesn't have the insane tension/dynamics of the later work.

my fave oxley work is with bill dixon: vade mecum vols 1 & 2, berlin abbozzi, and the trio with cecil taylor. for whatever reason, his playing takes on an entirely different character with dixon.
