Ever get the feeling you've been poxy fuled?

Ruud Haarvest (KenL), Thursday, 31 August 2006 13:58 (eighteen years ago) link

This is no fun.

nu_onimo (nu_onimo), Thursday, 31 August 2006 14:08 (eighteen years ago) link

The worst part is that I still can't be bothered to get any work done.

I Am Curious (George) (Slight Return) (Rock Hardy), Thursday, 31 August 2006 14:10 (eighteen years ago) link

Ha ha ha me neither. Terrible. I keep looking at other fora, but they are mostly terrible.

I think I'm trying to sneak through today so I can say I actually took the whole month of August off.

I Am Curious (George) (Slight Return) (Rock Hardy), Thursday, 31 August 2006 14:15 (eighteen years ago) link

I'm actually crunching through some work -- means I can relax this weekend. ;-)

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 31 August 2006 14:44 (eighteen years ago) link

I am drinking tea, and avoiding Real Work by planning Christmas gifts for people. Yes, it's still only Auugust, I know.

C J (C J), Thursday, 31 August 2006 14:50 (eighteen years ago) link

I've been working on xmas gifts for a couple of months now!

Ms Misery (MsMisery), Thursday, 31 August 2006 14:54 (eighteen years ago) link

Please tell me you're kidding

beanz-ii (beanz), Thursday, 31 August 2006 14:55 (eighteen years ago) link

No, my mom does similar. She says it helps her beat the rush.

Ned Raggett (Ned), Thursday, 31 August 2006 14:56 (eighteen years ago) link

Do you mean buying/making them or just mentally noting what might be good gifts? This is the sort of organisation I can only aspire towards aspiring towards

beanz-ii (beanz), Thursday, 31 August 2006 14:57 (eighteen years ago) link

Mrs. RH mail-orders all year "for christmas," gives the gifts as soon as they arrive, then buys more when it's actually christmas. She's going to fucking ruin me.

I Am Curious (George) (Slight Return) (Rock Hardy), Thursday, 31 August 2006 14:58 (eighteen years ago) link

Might be a problem with Linux file size limit?

It's unlikely - the main file size problem hits at 2G, and I'd have thought that if ILX is approaching 4G the largest table would already have passed the 2G point.

In any case, few systems still have the 2G limit.

hi everyone i just found this. whew!

mitya (mitya), Thursday, 31 August 2006 19:43 (eighteen years ago) link

I DECREE THIS IN A PUBLIC FORUM SUCH THAT I WILL MAKE GOOD ON IT:

This year, I will FINISH and actually GIVE the Xmas CD I have dedicated the last weeks before Xmas to for the past 2 years to recording. The "won't get mad at christmas" song. The lo-fi disco "joy to the world". The soft pretty one that will probably make my mom cry. Etc. SEE, I'M NOT A TOTAL FAILURE. MERRY XMAS, MOMS.

nklshs (nklshs), Thursday, 31 August 2006 19:56 (eighteen years ago) link

UGH where did my sentence-making skills go

nklshs (nklshs), Thursday, 31 August 2006 19:57 (eighteen years ago) link

Currently the DB (MySQL on Linux) is in itself apparently broken -- from the outside it appears it is not responding correctly to updates, inserts or selects.

Has something happened to the permissions for the database user? Is there a size limit on the share where the db is?

I am in awe of people using this time to make xmas gifts! I've just been filling time with more cups of tea.

jaq (jaq), Thursday, 31 August 2006 20:02 (eighteen years ago) link

It looks as if some checks that were run yesterday (which should have been completely safe) sent it haywire. Then the searches to refill New Answers compounded things.

Just now best opinion is that it won't work until somebody with server access restarts the DB server.
